War by Edwin Starr

War- huh! Yeah.
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'
Uh huh a huh
War- huh! Yeah.
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'!
Say it again, y'all.
War- huh! Good God.
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'!
Listen to me.
Ah, War I despise
'Cause it means destruction
Of innocent lives.
War means tears
To thousands of mothers' eyes
When their sons go off to fight
And lose their lives.
I said, War- huh! Good God, y'all.
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'!
(Get) Say it again.
War- Woah Lord,
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'!
Listen to me.
War!
It ain't nothin' but a heartbreaker.
War!
Friend only to the undertaker.
Ah, war!
It's an enemy to all mankind.
The thought of war blows my mind.
War has caused unrest
Within the younger generation.
Induction then destruction-
Who wants to die?
Ah, War- Good God, y'all.
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'!
Say it, say it, say it.
War- uh huh, yeah. Huh!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'!
Listen to me.
War!
It ain't nothin' but a heartbreaker.
War!
It's got one friend - that's the undertaker.
Ah, war has shattered
Many a young men's dreams,
Made him disabled, bitter and mean.
Life is much too short and precious
To spend fighting war these days.
War can't give life.
It can only take it away.
Ah, War- huh! Good God, y'all.
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothin'!
Say it again.
War- Woah Lord.
What is it good for?
Ah, Absolutely nothin'!
Listen to me.
War!
It ain't nothin' but a heartbreaker.
War!
Friend only to the undertaker.
Peace, love and understanding- tell me,
Is there no place for them today?
They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But, Lord knows there's got to be a better way.
Ah, War- God, y'all.
What is it good for?
You tell me! - Nothin'!
Say it, say it, say it.
War- Good God yeah. Huh.
What is it good for?
Stand up and shout it.
- Nothin'!

This Every Memorial day
As George W. Bush continues his never-ending push for
war in the name of peace, death in the name of freedom, and fear in the name of security, please
take a minute to read the wise words of Edwin Starr.
On January 20, 2005, King George was coronated
Bush said the public's decision to reelect him was a ratification of
his approach toward Iraq and that there was no reason to hold
any administration officials accountable for any "mistakes" they may
have made, "mistakes" like: imprisonment and torture of innocent people,
including American citizens; illegal invasion of a sovereign
country based on false information; suspending habeus corpus,
the most basic right of all free people; murdering more than 100,000
Iraqi citizens and destroying their entire country, when they did not
have anything whatsoever to do with the 9/11 attacks on the US;
tricking over 3400 US soldiers into dying, and more than 9 times
that number into being severely wounded, so they could steal Iraq's
oil and threaten middle eastern countries from their new military bases;
creating countless more enemies than he can ever kill; etc.
Substantially more than 50% of this country
DID NOT vote for the Miserable Failure,
G. W. Bush
They either: 1) voted for Kerry, or 2) were prevented from voting, or 3) didn't
vote for anybody at all. This is NOT a mandate for Bush's policies:
- war without end
- illegal spying on US citizens
- huge tax breaks for the wealthy
- tiny, meaningless tax breaks for the middle and lower classes, which are
more than made up for by increased state and local taxes
- outsourcing our jobs to foreign countries
- creating illegal private mercenary armies
- destroying social security by "privatizing" it, and borrowing $billions$ to do so
- borrowing from the Chinese and others, until the Federal government is bankrupt
- isolating the US from the entire world, leaving us without friends to help when we need it
- refusing to provide adequate troops to fight in Iraq, causing unnecessary US deaths
- refusing to provide armor for our troops, causing their deaths
- condoning and encouraging torture
- failing to plan for the aftermath of "winning" the war in Iraq
- turning Afghanistan over to the war lords and pretending that's democracy
- restoring opium production in Afghanistan, causing tremendous crime and death here in the US
- acting just like a terrorist ("God is on my side. I can do no wrong. Kill all my enemies")
- etc.
The list of Bush's utterly failed policies could go on forever. The devil himself could not
do a better job at destroying everything that was once great about this nation.
As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron. --H.L. Mencken
We have reached that day! Who else but a moron, or a madman, or a devil could have said:
It's good to be a dictator, so long as I get to be the dictator!
--G. W. Bush
You can fool some of the people all the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on.
--G. W. Bush
Hey, Bushies!
In case you were wondering just how stupid you have to be to still be supporting
GW Bush, take a look at this poll from FOX news:
The announcer declared Britney Spears the winner, "edging out her close friend,
Paris Hilton." The announcer seemed to think that Bush came in last place! I've
got news for you Bush lovers: 40% makes President GW Bush the most foolish
American, according to Fox News, his biggest supporters!!!
That was the essence I took away after looking him in the eyes and meeting with him--there's just no conscience there.
--Dolores Kesterson,
mother of slain Chief Warrant Officer Erik Kesterson,
after meeting with GW Bush
